fantasy of a broken heart on Audiotree Live (EP), fantasy of a broken heart (9/10)
HIIII!!!!! After a month and a half long hiatus, I am back from the dead!!! It's been a long month and a half, very emotional and tiring, which is why I've been away. But now I am back woohoo. January was dry af anyway. fantasy of a broken heart released their Audiotree Live on 2/3/26, but I hadn't given it a listen until last night after I saw them perform at Baby's. Man they were soooooooo good live; I'm so freaking excited about them as a band, and they were even better live than I could have expected. I mean I know Bailey is a super talented musician because they play drums crazy good for WFYE and I knew they liked guitar, and I like Al's voice a lot and think they are also talented, but I was blown away. I immediately listened to this EP on the commute home, and it is pretty close to the set they played. Really excellent innovative stuff, I mean the whole "prog pop" genre. I like the Life Without Buildings reference and clear inspiration, but they are also so obviously doing something new. I've always liked their recorded stuff but assumed (I'm not sure) that a lot of it was electronic, so hearing the songs as a full band with live drums and bass was/is soo sick.
