Snocaps, Snocaps (7/10)
To my absolute delight and surprise, on Halloween Katie and Allison Crutchfield released their new album under as their new band, Snocaps, which was recorded in one week with Brad Cook and MJ Lenderman.
They'd all posted that polaroid of the four of them a while ago, so I knew something was cooking, but I had no idea what to expect. The album is a short and sweet lil thing w 13 songs in just 33 minutes. I think each sister sings lead vocals on about half of the songs, and I'm guessing MJ plays guitar on most. What was most exciting to me was how much it harkened back to Katie's older more indie rock/less country stuff. I know she's excellent at that and has been putting out banger albums, but I'm definitely partial to/nostalgic for her older sound. Excellent collaboration. None of the songs are that novel or crazy, but they are all solid and filled with life. Fav tracks: Coast, Heathcliff, Doom
