Some Like It Hot, Bar Italia (8/10)

Bar Italia released their much anticipated new album, "Some Like It Hot" on 10/17/25 w Matador. On my first listen, I was a little disappointed; it felt slower and less strange to me, and as someone who prefers more upbeat rock and the dark kind of evil sound (lol sorry don't know how to describe this well) of their last few albums, I was a bit underwhelmed. This, however, was despite loving the singles "Cowbella," "Fundraiser," and "Rooster." On second listen, though, I grew to like it a lot more and even if their sound has evolved, I just find so many of their guitar riffs so fing catchy. And I think the amount that I like those singles just has to elevate this album. Pitchfork put out a scathing review lmao that gave this a 5.9 which I think is hilarious and just really random? I don't know; even if it's not as good as their other albums, I still think the musicianship is great and it deserves at least a 6 or 7. And there's so many albums that Pitchfork rates highly that I don't fuck with. But there's a reason I don't want to write for Pitchfork lol. Anyways, very solid in my book and a lot of songs I like. Excited to see them in November. Fav tracks: Cowbella, Rooster, Fundraiser
