Getting Killed, Geese (9/10)
I wanted so much to hate the new Geese album, which dropped 9/26/25 w Partisan Records, especially because every guy with carhartts and a shaggy haircut who moved to NYC in the last two years is going so hard for it and telling me they were at the free geese show this weekend in Williamsburg... alas, here we are, and there is no choice but for me to say it's extremely good. I didn't much like 2023's "3D Country," but I guess this is just better and I've switched to the dark side after "Heavy Metal" like every other basic bitch. sigh. It's a pretty epic record of art rock leaning into funky time signatures and kinda a Caribbean? sound - someone correct me or better articulate what I mean? My favorite line up until 5 minutes ago was in "Trinidad" when I thought Cameron Winter was screaming "THERE'S A BUG IN MY CAR" (extremely relatable) which I've just learned is "THERE'S A BOMB IN MY CAR" (less relatable). Anyways, great guitar, great drums, great Cameron Winter songwriting, and I don't even mind the horns! Fav tracks: Cobra, Husbands, Au Pays du Cocaine, Trinidad
