Instant Holograms on Metal Film, Stereolab (8/10)

Stereolab released their first studio album in 15 years on 5/23/25 w Warp Records. As a huge Stereolab fan and having loved the singles a lot, I was super excited for this. And it didn't miss. I still think the singles "Aerial Troubles" and "Melodie Is a Wound" are my two fav songs, but the rest are really good too! Pitchfork called this something like the platonic ideal of a Stereolab record and while maybe a bit hyperbolic, that's at least close. You've got your jazzier moments and more rocky moments and more dancey moments. Excellent stuff and excellent, politically attuned lyrics. And sometimes in the past I've gotten bored w Stereolab albums, but I've had no trouble getting through this one. Fav Tracks: Aerial Troubles, Melodie Is A Wound, Electrified Teenybop!
