Heavy Metal, Cameron Winter (9/10)

Dangit this album is so darn good. Cameron Winter, frontman of Brooklyn rock band Geese, released his debut solo LP on 12/6/24. Why did I just hear about it in January? Probably because over the last month, it's really blown up. Now I am having to go back to my best of 2024 lists and add in my fav songs (which i refuse to do unless it's really exceptional) 😭 Such an idiosyncratic voice that Pitchfork rightly puts somewhere between Connor Oberst and Rufus Wainwright. On my first listen, I thought this album was somewhere between Bob Dylan and @ lol. Mostly Dylan for the vocals and lyricism and then @ for the strange and novel instrumentalism and sweetness of the songs. Quickly has become a comfort album for me; had on repeat for me for the last few weeks and probably for the foreseeable future. LUV. Fav tracks: Try as I May, Can't Keep Anything, The Rolling Stones
