Nobody Loves You More, Kim Deal (7/10)

Kim Deal (Breeders, Pixies) released her much-anticipated debut solo LP, "Nobody Loves You More" on 11/22/24 w 4AD. Kim Deal is extremely beloved in esp I feel like non-men fans of 90's alt rock, and for good reason. She was a pioneering voice in some of the best work of the era and was friends with all of the coolest people. Rocker legend for sure. Ok let me just start off by saying I am a big Breeders fan. Maybe not the biggest, but I have had my time being obsessed w "Pod" and "Last Splash." But I have to admit I've never been the biggest fan of Deal's vocals. Kill me okay. So there's that. And then this album is a lot more kinda theatrically produced than my taste I think (a lot of horns). And I think just a bit slower/more poppy/less rock-y than my current taste, although we do get some little snippets of rock shreddage here and there ("Crystal Breath" "Come Running"). Anyways, I really was debating between a 6 and a 7 for this bc I super respect the musicianship and innovation but ultimately decided on a 6 because idk I just don't luv the sounds I guess. Still awesome shit from an awesome legend tho. O and drums are awesome on this record. Fav tracks: A Good Time Pushed, Crystal Breath, Come Running

Ok 30 minutes later. Changing this to a 7/10. Just awesome.
