Spike Field, Maria BC (6/10)

Another album that Pitchfork gave a 7.8 that I found a bit disappointing. I'd seen so much hype around this album, Maria BC's sophomore which came out on 10/20/23 w Sacred Bones Records. I think part of that hype was cuz they are local to the Bay and are actually roommates w a friend of mine lol. But I think Rachika Nayer (I'm a huge fan) also posted about dis. I luv ambient and contemporary avant garde instrumental, of which this is, and I think it's pretty solid. But especially after the recent Laurel Halo album that I fuckin loved, I didn't think it was anything special. If ur into that genre tho, I still might give it a listen and maybe u'll luv.
