Some Kinda Love: Performing The Music Of The Velvet Underground, The Feelies (8/10)

 Fucking fantastic cover album of the Velvet Underground by The Feelies came out 10/13/23 w Bar None. The Velvet Underground is one of my favorite bands of all time, so it means a lot to me to give this such a high score, but I feel like The Feelies do such a great job of both capturing that VU ethos of fun and partying and jamming and also putting their own spin on the songs, adding some really fkn awesome guitar shreddage that's a bit grungier than the original songs. It's a great testament to the originals, but it also makes them feel fresh and new, which is what a good cover should do. And I just always luv spending more time with Velvet Underground songs. I really enjoyed this and would honestly give it a higher score if it wasn't covers. I think 8/10 is my cap for cover albums. But this is an awesome record.
