Exit In Guyville (2018 Remaster), Liz Phair (10/10)

Today is my half birthday and the 30th anniversary of Liz Phair's epic debut album, "Exit in Guyville," which came out on 6/22/1993 w Matador Records (solidifying Matador's status as one of the greatest indie record labels of all time). Phair claims it is a song-by-song response to the Rolling Stones, "Exile on Main St." This album is an exemplar in song-writing, I think, and Phair maintains her status as one of my favorite songwriters even 30 years later. It's raw. It's blunt. It's funny. It's dark. Her personality comes thru just like Frank O'Hara's -- and she is just as likeable, tho a darkly feminine heterosexual self instead of an optimistic homosexual in the NY school lol. This album is just banger after banger. Also that cover art?? 😭 One of my favorites ever for sure.  Favorite Tracks: 6'1", Never Said, Mesmerizing, Johnny Sunshine
