Romantic Piano, Gia Margaret (5/10)

Gia Margaret is one of my favorite contemporary classical/instrumental artists, so I was super psyched for this album! Especially after fucking w the singles she dropped! Idk man I was rlly disappointed here. I guess it's a little more traditional than some of her other stuff just in terms of being made up of a lot of piano/synth ballads w some field recordings (birds, rain, cicadas, etc.) in the background, but I just didn't find it that exciting as a project. Especially since there's been so much really dope avant garde stuff in this realm that has come out in the last year (thinking specifically of Hinako Omori's album from last year). Sad. But still luv her it's ok. Favorite tracks: Hinoki Woods, Ways of Seeing, 2017
