Live at Bush Hall, Black Country, New Road (4/10)
BCNR's triumphant(?) return after their huge success, "Ants from Up There," as well as the loss of frontman Isaac Wood. This album, which was recorded over a 3 day residency at Bush Hall, was released on 3/24/23. TBH my criticism of "Ants From Up There" was that while at times they can sound like a post-punk Belle and Sebastian, the album verged on sounding like a broadway musical at times, which I thought was impressive but didn't really like. For me, I really felt the loss of Wood on this album which falls heavy on the Les Mis vibes and less so on the post-punk B&S for me, I think partially because of the loss of Wood's voice.
