Practice, Free Range (6/10)

Free Range is the project of some cool young kinds in the Chicago scene (see: Horsegirl, Friko, Lifeguard, Post Office Winter). This is the debut album from the band and was released on 2/17/23. It's pretty frickin' good! It's a lot more acoustic than some of the other bands on that scene, sounding more in the indie folk vein of a Lomelda or Babehoven. The reason for the lower score is that despite sounding overall quite pleasant, a lot of the songs sounded pretty similar and I got a bit bored. But there are some gems for sure, and I'm excited to keep following the project. Favorite tracks: Want To Know, Growing Away
