The Power Out, Electrelane (9/10)

Man! What a fucking fantastic album!! This is the second album of British rock band, Electrelane. It was released in 2004. It's a superb mix of languages and genres - dabbling in what sounds like contemporary post-punk and then moving quickly to jazzy/chill indie rock (maybe think Yo La Tengo?) and back, but all of it is quite interesting and novel and strange. I found this album thru a Horsegirl post, and it makes a lot of sense because you can really see Horsegirl in their lineage. And the guitar... man that guitar is so fucking crazy!!! On so many songs!!! I'm so so into this album. It has a few misses for me, but if those misses were hits - this would be a candidate for a 10 for me NGL. There are just so many songs that absolutely shred. Wow. Such a fan. Favorite tracks: On Parade, Love Builds Up, Birds
