The Secret History, Donna Tartt (7/10) - no spoilers
The Secret History is Donna Tartt's first book, published in 1992. It's sorta a cult classic, but I didn't really know anything about it before reading. It's a pretty captivating psychological thriller/dark academia novel about a group of elite liberal arts college kids who are really into ancient greek and sort of devolve as they get more and more into the morals/societies of ancient worlds. In the prologue, you find out the group has killed one of its members - Bunny - but you don't know how this has happened. I think the book could have probably done without 100 or so pages (it's about 550 pages long), but overall it was a pretty good read. I really like psychological stuff like this, and the characters are all very rich. It definitely is one that keeps you thinking for a while after you finish it; I was deep in the reddit for an hour or so lol. Anyways, I would recommend if you can handle the length and like psychological dramas or the literary world/scene (there's a lot of allusions esp. to ancient greek/latin texts/idioms).
