Lydia Wears A Cross, Julia Jacklin (7/10)
Julia Jacklin just announced her forthcoming album Pre Pleasure (out in August) as well as this first single off the album. She always has great lyrics and I love her voice, and this song pairs both of those with a stronger more dancey drum beat than she usually uses. It's about her time as a kid going to Catholic school and listening to the Jesus Christ Superstar soundtrack -- kind of reminiscent of Lucy Dacus' songs about growing up and religion. It's not one of my favorites of hers but it's still pretty good (I like songs thinking through religion) and the drums are great.
