Quitters, Christian Lee Hutson (5/10)

I like but not love Christian Lee Huston, which I think is expressed in my rating for this new album of his. I think he's a phenomenal lyricist, and that happens throughout this entire album -- but about half of the songs I was not convinced by the music (both his voice and the melodies). At its worst, it sounds like an emulative but lacking Phoebe Bridgers. At its best, though, I would put it on par with her -- great lyrics, good guitar, songs about love and mental illness and just the general lyric self. I would say give this album a listen; there were a lot of songs I was only meh about, but a few I really fuck with. The tracks I fucked with: Blank Check, Creature Feature, OCDemon, Age Difference, Rubberneckers.
